  • Vivid & Color-Logic partnership wins Innovation Gallery honour

    1 September 2017

Vivid Laminating Technologies return to London’s Packaging Innovations & Luxury Packaging shows with its award-winning Matrix Systems and a place in the events Innovation Gallery for its partnership with Color-Logic.

David Smith, Vivid’s marketing communications manager said, "We’ve had an incredible reaction to the announcement of our new alliance with the Color-Logic team and the amazing foiled samples we’ve been creating.

"The simplicity of using the Matrix to digitally foil packaging and labels, combined with the power of the Color-Logic software palette of 250 foil colours, means that packaging designers and printers can offer their customers more bespoke products created on-demand & in-house."

In the run-up to every show, a small number of products and services are chosen by the show organisers to be featured in their Innovation Gallery. The Vivid and Color-Logic partnership & samples were picked amongst 33 other products to be highlighted on the show floor.

"This is only the third packaging show that Vivid has attended,” continued Smith. "To be chosen as one of the few products for the Innovation Gallery reflects on how good the quality of samples on show are. We’re really excited to be bringing our solutions for foiling, spot UV effects and lamination back to London."

  • Matrix Duplex Nominated again for U.S. Top Product Award

    14 July 2017

We are pleased to announce that the Matrix Duplex MX-370DP has been nominated for the Printing News Readers' Choice Top Products Awards.

Vivid has already achieved major success in America with the Easymount Air Laminator winning the Top Product Award in 2016 and the Matrix Duplex MX-530DP winning the award in 2015.

"When the Matrix MX-530 Duplex won in 2015, the range was promoted as a Digital Laminating system," said export manager Bruce Cozens. "Now with our Retrofit Take-up and Foil Bracket unit, the Pneumatic and Duplex Systems are able to Foil amazing images onto Digital toner, simply and easily making the Matrix range very versatile and ensuring a quick return on investment for print shops."

The Matrix can produce foiling, holographic & spot UV-style effects used for all kinds of print and packaging, including business cards, stationery, book covers, security print, wedding stationery and high-end bespoke print, quickly and cost-effectively. By combining the Matrix with the Color-Logic suite of colour communication systems and software tool sets that work in conjunction with Adobe’s Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign applications, designers can now work with an exclusive pallet of 250 unique metallic foil colours, all achievable using a digital printer. The Duplex can also laminate and encapsulate print on both sides of the sheet at once, saving both post-production time and money.

  • Huddersfield’s Swiftprint buys Matrix to digitally foil print

    11 July 2017

Huddersfield-based Swiftprint can now offer their customers a truly bespoke foiling service with its recent purchase of a Matrix Digital Foiling & Laminating System.

Established in 1972, Swiftprint is West Yorkshire's premiere design and print facility. Offering a full service to its customers, their portfolio ranges from business cards, letterheads, brochures & flyers, to wide format work such as outdoor banners, signs, pop-up banners and exhibition stands.

With an impressive arsenal of kit including a Xerox Versant 2100, Roland & Canon wide format printers and an Easymount wide format laminator, owners Phil & Vickie Earle decided it was time to bring their small format lamination in-house too.

"We had a 'so-called' table top laminator" said Swiftprint's Phil Earle. "It was a messy and time-consuming operation and anything over 100 sheets would always be outsourced. I visited the Print2Finish event at Leeds Elland Road and was given a demonstration on the Matrix System. I was very impressed with the quality and amazed that we'd also be able to foil our digital work. I was also really surprised how well the Matrix could foil onto uncoated paper, particularly a job we used to send out using the Arjowiggins Pop'Set range from Antalis. We've saved thousands of pounds now we can foil and laminate on the Matrix."

Swiftprint also run its sister company, Wedding Angels and offers wedding stationery including save the date cards, invitations, order of service and table plans. The award-winning company specialises in short-run, personalised & bespoke digitally printed stationery.

"Many couples that visit us love the look and quality of foiled invites for their wedding," continued Earle "The problem is that most find the £150 set-up charge too expensive, as we used to outsource all our foiled work. Now we have the Matrix, we can offer our wedding stationery with a beautiful bespoke foiled finish, even foiling variable data like individual names, and all without set-up charges."
