We recommend annual servicing for all of our machines. Like any mechanical devices, regular servicing will keep it running at its optimum level for longer. Get in touch to enquire about the different service and maintenance packages we offer.
This is usually the result of insufficient heat. If your machine has heat control, try and increase the temperature. Also, check the specifications of your machine and that you are not using a film that is too thick.
Bubbling is usually caused by the heat setting on the machine being set too high. Firstly, you should try lowering the temperature to fix the issue. As a reminder, it is a good idea to run a test print through the laminator first if you are unsure.
For best quality results and to ensure the laminate sticks to the print, it is recommended to allow adequate drying time prior to application. The drying (aka ‘curing’ time) can range from 4-24 hours depending on factors including type of print media being laminated, substrate, inks, laminator. Allowing adequate time prevents ‘outgassing’ which is when air bubbles are trapped between the print and the laminate.
The three most likely variables causing this are heat, pressure or speed. Because there are a few different possibilities, it’s best you get in touch and we can advise based on your specific system and scenario.
If your sheets are curling up once laminated, you need to apply more anti-curl. If your sheets are curling down once laminated, you need to apply less anti-curl. Before attempting to adjust the anti-curl, release the pressure on the pull rollers. And, always match the manual lever setting to the setting on the display screen.
Both temperature and speed settings play a vitally important role in getting the perfect result when foiling. It’s best we give you specific advice on the jobs that you’re trying to carry out. Get in touch and we’ll get you moving again.
