Vivid Enforces VeloTaper Patent with On-Site Legal Action at FESPA GLOBAL PRINT EXPO 2025

At FESPA Global Print Expo 2025, Vivid Laminating Technologies took a firm stand in defence of its intellectual property by serving an in-person cease and desist notice to a company exhibiting a direct copy of our patented VeloTaper system.
As a leading UK manufacturer of digital cutting, laminating, and taping solutions, innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our VeloTaper technology—designed to automatically apply double-sided tape to a wide range of substrates—has been carefully engineered to streamline production workflows for print and packaging professionals. It’s a product we’ve developed with precision, passion, and a commitment to advancing our industry.
So when we discovered that a Chinese manufacturer, whom we are not naming at this time, was displaying a system that mirrored our patented design at the Berlin expo, we acted swiftly and decisively to protect our innovation.
On Tuesday, May 6th, Vivid’s Commercial Director Lewis Evans, Events Manager Tiah Hallam and Technical Director Gavin Ward, accompanied by our legal team and bailiff—including Sebastian Dworschak of the Nordemann law firm—personally delivered a cease and desist order and formal warning letter at the exhibitor’s stand. The company was given a deadline of 10:00 AM the following day, May 7th, to resolve the matter out of court.
By the following morning, the infringing product had been removed from display. We are pleased to report that the issue was resolved in our favour, and we are now initiating legal proceedings to seek damages.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our legal representatives—particularly Sebastian Dworschak—and to the enforcement officers for their professionalism and dedication. Special appreciation also goes to our Events Manager, Tiah Hallam, and Technical Director, Gavin Ward, for their exceptional support throughout this challenging episode.
The past year has brought its share of difficulties as we’ve faced repeated attempts to replicate our proprietary technologies. But this outcome reaffirms our commitment to protecting our innovations and reinforces the integrity of our work. We are proud to have defended the VeloTaper and what it represents—for Vivid and for our customers across the globe.
