Indigo Ross Transform Bespoke Packaging the VeloBlade Volta

Indigo Ross approached packaging production with a clear goal, to remove the cost, time, and complexity that traditionally come with creating bespoke designs. Custom packaging has long relied on physical dies, adding significant setup costs and slowing down turnaround times, particularly for short runs or prototype work. For many businesses, this made fully customised packaging difficult to justify.

To overcome this, Indigo Ross invested in the Veloblade Volta with VeloTaper, transforming how packaging is produced within their Sudbury studio. By cutting directly from digital design files, the need for physical tooling is removed entirely, allowing projects to move from concept to production far more quickly while significantly reducing upfront costs. What was once a multi-day process can now be completed in a fraction of the time.

"This isn’t just a new machine; it’s a total shift in how we help you create bespoke packaging."

This shift has opened up new creative and practical possibilities. The system can cut with exceptional precision across materials up to 10mm thick, making it suitable for everything from refined retail cartons to more durable transit packaging. Larger sheet sizes also allow for more ambitious formats, including oversized presentation pieces and complex point-of-sale designs that were previously difficult or uneconomical to produce.

Efficiency has also improved beyond the cutting stage. With integrated Auto-Taper technology, packaging is delivered with high-strength adhesive already applied, meaning it arrives ready for immediate assembly. This reduces manual handling and speeds up packing processes for clients, particularly on larger jobs.
