Frequently asked questions

MY SYSTEM IS OUT OF WARRANTY, CAN YOU STILL REPAIR IT?

We can! We’ll need to get your system back to our premises and run a full diagnosis before we can let you know the outcome and likely cost of a repair if required. Get in touch with us and we’ll be able to advise based on your specific scenario.

CAN I EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR MY VIVID SYSTEM?

Yes, we have a variety of extended warranty options available across our entire product range. Enabling you to rest assured that your system will be covered for years to come. To find out more, get in touch.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY VIVID SYSTEM BE SERVICED?

We recommend annual servicing for all of our machines. Like any mechanical devices, regular servicing will keep it running at its optimum level for longer. Get in touch to enquire about the different service and maintenance packages we offer.

LAMINATING - WHAT IS CAUSING MY LAMINATION TO BE CLOUDY?

This is usually the result of insufficient heat. If your machine has heat control, try and increase the temperature. Also, check the specifications of your machine and that you are not using a film that is too thick.

LAMINATING - WHY IS MY LAMINATION BUBBLY/RIPPLING?

Bubbling is usually caused by the heat setting on the machine being set too high. Firstly, you should try lowering the temperature to fix the issue. As a reminder, it is a good idea to run a test print through the laminator first if you are unsure.

LAMINATING – DO I NEED TO LEAVE MY PRINTS TO DRY BEFORE LAMINATING?

For best quality results and to ensure the laminate sticks to the print, it is recommended to allow adequate drying time prior to application. The drying (aka ‘curing’ time) can range from 4-24 hours depending on factors including type of print media being laminated, substrate, inks, laminator. Allowing adequate time prevents ‘outgassing’ which is when air bubbles are trapped between the print and the laminate.

LAMINATING – MY FILM ISN’T STICKING TO THE SHEET, WHY?

The three most likely variables causing this are heat, pressure or speed. Because there are a few different possibilities, it’s best you get in touch and we can advise based on your specific system and scenario.

LAMINATING - WHY ARE MY LAMINATED PRINTS CURLING?

If your sheets are curling up once laminated, you need to apply more anti-curl. If your sheets are curling down once laminated, you need to apply less anti-curl. Before attempting to adjust the anti-curl, release the pressure on the pull rollers. And, always match the manual lever setting to the setting on the display screen.

FOILING – WHAT IS CAUSING MY FOILING TO BE INCONSISTENT?

Both temperature and speed settings play a vitally important role in getting the perfect result when foiling. It’s best we give you specific advice on the jobs that you’re trying to carry out. Get in touch and we’ll get you moving again.
