We are thrilled to announce the launch of 3 new roll film laminators at IPEX 2014.
We've created pneumatic versions of our popular MX-370 and MX-530 models. Both the best selling MX-370 and MX-530 will continue to be available to purchase as standard systems, with the upgraded pneumatic versions now joining them in our Matrix range.
Our Technical Manager, Gavin Ward, explains, “The Pneumatic Matrix delivers much faster production times compared to our standard systems. They can run up to twice the speed, so printers can laminate their work even faster to get the job finished and back to the customer”.
We used our Boss range of laminating films on trials of the Matrix. The extra pressure through pneumatic rollers also showed that certain digitally printed substrates can now be laminated using standard OPP film, rather than higher-priced digital OPP film, meaning that print finishing has also become even more cost-effective.
Gavin continued “We’ve really been putting the pneumatic versions through some rigorous tests over the past few months. Some substrates can be laminated up to 50% quicker on the new systems, so the cost and time savings for the end user is fantastic”.
The third system being launched at IPEX is the Duplex version of the MX-530. After successfully debuting the working prototype at FESPA last June, the new double-sided laminator has also been enhanced to make use of the pneumatic benefits.
Vivid's Product Manager, Bruce Cozens, also highlights that we are bringing production of both the Pneumatic and Duplex options to Britain “There is a recent shift by some companies of ‘re-shoring’; bringing production back to their country, therefore shortening supply chains and lead times.” This will greatly benefit the end user, as delivery times on new Pneumatic systems will be shorter.
Bruce continued, “The Matrix is designed in Britain so re-shoring Pneumatic and Duplex production felt like the obvious choice. We’ve used the highest quality components in the systems, including Omron switches, Schneider electrics and British built Bambi compressors”.
The decision to manufacture Pneumatic versions of the systems came from customer forums and feedback generated by both end users and their expanding network of distributors.
The final Matrix in our arsenal is a new version of the MX-700 B1 laminator. The system is being showcased at IPEX, ready for launch in the Summer. The 700 includes a deep-pile built-in automated feeder and separator. Able to laminate SRA3, B1 and B2 print, the top-of-the-range system is aimed at more industrial print finishers for bigger runs of both litho and digital jobs.
Like it’s smaller brothers, the 700 is fully pneumatic and both the vacuum fed integrated feeder and pneumatics are powered by compressors by Japanese maker Orion. With a running speed of up to 20m a minute, we're confident the Matrix 700 will develop a new market currently dominated by more expensive models.
The Matrix is currently the best selling single-sided laminator in Europe. We currently export to over 40 countries including the US, Canada, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal, as well as having a network of dealers within the UK.
Bruce summarised “We launched the original Matrix just 5 years ago and we have taken the laminator to the No.1 spot in Europe. This is a really exciting time for us and we have continued to develop, enhance and add to the range, capturing new markets and increasing our overall market share”.
The Matrix Laminating Systems are ideal for high quality lamination of business cards, menus, book covers, greetings cards and much more.
IPEX is the largest printing exhibition in 2014 and will see over 500 companies showcase their products and services. The show will also include an extensive education & features programme, as well as practical advice, case studies and training.
